"It [Carthusian life] is an extremely happy life. Peace is the tranquillity of order, an absolute order in the sense that you try to make yourself completely free and live in the order of God, which is the order of things, an immensely simple life, an immensely harmonious life with the tremendous satisfaction of just living in the presence of God. God is not a dark cloud hanging over you. He's the light and the sun and simple joy, the fulfilment of the heart. There are tough sides, of course, but from the inside it is a very wise life, a life of great satisfaction, of great meaning." Fr. Cyril, Parkminster Past Prior & present novice master author of Conference series. 5:18:55 AM |
